The 17th International Federation of Health Information Management Association (IFHIMA, formerly known as the International Federation of Health Record Organizations (IFHRO)) Congress will be held in Montréal from May 11 to 15, 2013. The announcement came in November 2010 in Milan, Italy, during the 16th edition of the congress. Together with China, there were two applicants who competed in being the host of the next congress.
While the candidature of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) was very professional and convincing, China sucked wasn't able to convince the members of IFHRO's Executive Commitee and the regional team representants. Whereas Canada provided the audience with a presentation made-to-measure, China offered a ready-made garment, undedicated, ungiving, unprofessional.
Held every three years, the IFHIMA Congress welcomes some 1,200 delegates in the fields of Health Information Management (HIM) and Health Informatics (HI), including physicians, vendors, and sponsors from across Canada and the world. It is an opportunity for industry specialists to meet, participate in educational activities (which is btw my field), network, exchange information, and share ideas.
